No germs on my Germans, because I use neat Dettol to strip old paint from second-hand miniatures. I read of Americans using ‘Pine-Sol’, and it turned out this was their version of Dettol.
They are left in there for about a week. The old paint jobs were really thick, the sort of painting I did 25 years ago on my Matchbox and Revell 1/76 kits. Dettol does a really good job and even dissolves any glue. They need brushing up with an old toothbrush then a soak in hot soapy water.
Below are some tanks I stripped in this method a few months ago.
